Don't Panic! A letter from DVSA to visit your operation to check your records is only the first stage into a potential investigation which might lead to a Public Inquiry before the Traffic Commissioner.
A DVSA investigation must prompt you to make a thorough review of your systems so that effective changes can be made to reduce the risk of Regulatory Action at Public Inquiry. Traffic Commissioners must give maximum credit to operators who correct problems at the earliest opportunity.
The letter may require you to make available a number of different documents which will be used to build up a picture of your compliance. Failure to work with DVSA during the investigation will have a detrimental effect on your future success at Public Inquiry.
The letter may also inform you that the DVSA officers will also wish to interview you under caution. You do have the right to take legal advice in this situation and the interview cannot take place if you need a Solicitor to be present.
We can help you to prepare for the visit and we can also be at your side at interview.
Following on from the visit we can advise on the steps required to protect your business from disciplinary action.
